Upwardly Global

Immigrants want to rebuild their careers. Employers are looking for experienced global talent. Upwardly Global exists to bring them together. Upwardly Global is an internationally recognized, nonprofit organization with a mission to eliminate employment barriers for skilled immigrants and refugees and integrate this population into the professional U.S. workforce. Their vision is a United States where skilled new Americans are a recognized and valued source of talent.

City Harvest

City Harvest, a non-profit organization founded in 1982, is the world's first and New York City's only food rescue program. Millions of pounds of good, edible food are thrown away each year by New York City food businesses. At the same time, more than one million people are hungry, including nearly 350,000 children and more than 140,000 senior citizens. City Harvest is the link between those who have so much and those who have too little. This year, City Harvest will rescue 20 million pounds of excess food from all segments of the food industry - including restaurants, manufacturers, wholesalers, green markets, hotels, corporate cafeterias, grocery stores and farms - and deliver it to more than 600 community food programs throughout the five boroughs using a fleet of 16 trucks and volunteers on foot... Read more

New York Cares

New York Cares was founded by a group of friends who wanted to take action against the serious social issues facing our city. Each year, New York Cares brings vital volunteer support to more than 850 nonprofit agencies, public schools and other deserving organizations throughout the five boroughs. Our program staff work with each organization to identify their most pressing needs, create projects where volunteers can make a meaningful difference, and then recruit and deploy teams of volunteers to help meet those needs... City Meals

City Meals-on-Wheels raises private funds to ensure no homebound elderly New Yorker will ever go a day without food or human company. Last year, our family of contributors helped us bring over 2.1 million nutritious meals to 17,713 frail aged in every borough of New York City. In addition, over 1,500 volunteers collectively spent 62,000 hours visiting and delivering meals to New York’s frail aged. City Meals funds 30 community-based agencies that bring weekend, holiday and emergency meals to homebound elderly New Yorkers who can no longer shop or cook for themselves.

The UMT team periodically participates as part of the Meals on Wheels weekend delivery team in New York City. Read More
